Sri Lanka’s leading men’s squash player Ravindu Laksiri has displayed his vast talent by finishing fifth in his first PSA tournament held in Bangladesh recently.
He unfortunately lost in the quarter-final to the seeded number two player in Ravi Dixit of India in straight sets by obtaining nine points in the first two sets and seven points in the final set.
According to experts, Laksiri is a talented player and has much room for improvement and this can be achieved only if he is sent overseas for further training and must be given the opportunity to spar with players who are better than him.
Laksiri beat Rounak Yadav of India in the first match and beat Hamza Khan of Pakistan in the second game in a five setter.
“I am very happy with my performance. I got to learn a lot on the court craft and will make my come back stronger next time,” said Laksiri. (TBR)
