A new mental health unit at the office of the Regional Director of Health Services, Batticaloa called “ETRAM Psycho-Social Centre” was opened at Kallady by the Director of the Psycho-Social Unit of the Health Ministry, Dr. Rohan Rathnayeka recently.
The centre which will cater to the entire district and comes under the jurisdiction of the RDHS, Batticaloa, will include a child adolescent-friendly environment, counselling and referral centre, mental health consumer organisation and mental health volunteer organisation.
Psychiatrists, Batticaloa Teaching Hospital Mental Health Unit, Dr. T. Kadampanathan and Dr. R. Kamalraj were also present.
