Vishmi Serasinghe in action-Zaidh Zihar plays a back hand
Vishmi Serasinghe and Zaidh Zihar emerged under-18 girls and boys champions respectively at the clay-courts tennis Championship played at the SLTA courts at Sir Marcus Fernando Mawatha in Colombo yesterday.
Serasinghe faced a stiff challenge offered by R. Lewkebandara in the final.
The first set was hotly contested with Serasinghe winning on the tie breaker.
She however took the second set easily on 6-2 to emerge the girls champion.
Zaidh Zihar was also made to fight hard for his victory over Apna Perera in the boys final that went on to three sets.
Zihar won the first set on 6-3 but lost the second to similar scores and won the third set on 6-2 to take the boys title.
