
Deepal Akuretiyagama was the overall winner of the HSBC Premier Challenge Trophy with 43 Stableford points at the HSBC golf tournament held at the Ridgeway course in Colombo over last weekend.
Dihan Dedigama scored 38 points on the count of a better back nine score to emerge overall winner in the A and B divisions.
Akuretiyagama and Dedigama have in the process been selected as the overall winners and were presented with a fully sponsored four nights and five days hospitality package each to witness the 150th Open Championship at St. Andrews in Scotland from July 10 to 17.
Anouk Chitty won the women’s segment with 39 points while Chandana de Silva won the Seniors segment with 37 points. Anouk Chitty was unfortunate to miss out on the selection to Scotland as she could only accumulate 39 Stableford points.
This year over 180 golfers demonstrated their skills at the tournament held for the ninth year while over 250 players from the RCGC took part in the annual 5-Club Stableford Tournament marking 26-years of HSBC’s title sponsorship.
Sanjeewa Wickramanayake and Adrian Perera also walked away with a Global Health Insurance plan each from Allianz Insurance offered exclusively to HSBC Premier customers during a special draw.
The overall winner at this year’s 5-Club Stableford Tournament was Manoj Algama who secured the highest score of 43 points. The women’s champion was Fran de Mel who scored 40 points. (TBR)
