Inoculation drive continues despite lockdown

Head of the National Operation Centre for the Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Army Commander Gen. Shavendra Silva said the Covid-19 inoculation drive will continue despite the quarantine curfew.The Army Commander said that vaccine recipients who are due to receive their second dose can get themselves vaccinated at the vaccination centres.

An islandwide quarantine curfew came into effect from 10.00 pm on Friday (August 20). It will be enforced until 4.00 am on August 30. Essential services, export, apparel and the agricultural sectors are permitted to function as normal during the period while pharmacies can also operate as usual. These decisions were taken during the meeting with the Special Committee on Covid-19 Control at the Presidential Secretariat on Friday (August 20).
