
A minor employee of the Lunawa District Hospital was arrested for charging a fee from people to administer the Sinopharm Covid-19 vaccine, Police spokesman Senior DIG Ajith Rohana said.
The arrest was made on Friday (August 13) in a joint operation conducted by the Divisional Intelligence Unit of the Mount Lavinia Police and the investigative officers of the Ministry of Health.
According to the Police spokesman, the suspect was taken into custody on charges of selling Sinopharm vaccines at Rs. 2,000 each and forging vaccination cards.
Following a tip-off, the Health Ministry launched an undercover operation to apprehend the suspect. The suspect was produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court yesterday.
