Finland’s Health Minister greets Sri Lankan counterpart

Finland’s Social Services and Health Minister Pirkko Mattila has assured Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne that a substantial amount of Finnish Aid to Sri Lanka would be for the health sector, at the bilateral discussion held at the Health Ministry recently.

It came to light that the Finnish Aid consists of 30% financial and 70% concessionary loans. Minister Senaratne commended Finland’s assistance to construct the new Accident Unit of the Colombo National Hospital. The Finnish Minister asked Dr. Senaratne for development proposals in the health sector to be funded by Finland. She said her government wished to pride training in DNA Service to Sri Lankan doctors.

She also held a meeting with the Sri Lankan business community at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.

Health Ministry Secretary, Anura Jayawickrema, Additional Secretary, Janaka Sri Chandraguptha and State Pharmaceutical Corporation Managing Director, Dr. H.M.M. Rumy were present at the bilateral discussions.
