
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa virtually launched construction work on the Maritime Facilitation Centre in Colombo and opened the Kapuduwa Interchange of the Southern Expressway and the Gatambe Underpass in Peradeniya at a ceremony at Temple Trees on Friday (July 2). The Maritime Facility Centre built at a cost of Rs. 5 billion is expected to be completed in two years. The cost of the Kapuduwa Interchange Centre was Rs. 445 million. The underpass in front of the Peradeniya Hospital was constructed at a cost of Rs. 127 million. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena, Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando and Minister of Power Dullas Allahapperuma were also present.
