The Parliamentary Business Committee chaired by Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena which met on Wednesday (March 17) decided to convene the Parliament for four days from March 23 to 26.
March 25 and 26 have been set aside for the adjournment debate on the Report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) into the Easter Sunday attacks which commenced on March 10, Secretary General of Parliament Dhammika Dasanayake said. Although March 25 and 26 have been fixed for the adjournment debate on the PCoI into the Easter Sunday attack, time will be allotted for oral questions of MPs on March 25 from 10.00 a.m. to 11.00 a.m. The Adjournment Debate will be held on March 26 from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. without oral questions, Dasanayake said.
Leader of the House and Foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that steps would be taken to set aside a day or two in the coming days to answer the oral questions of the MPs, while responding to a question raised by the Chief Opposition Whip Lakshman Kiriella regarding the adjournment of oral questions.
Attention was also drawn on debating the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Political Victimisation and the report of the Presidential Commission of inquiry into the incidents of fraud and misappropriation which had allegedly taken place at public institutions from January 14, 2015 to December 31, 2018.
