India commenced Covid-19 vaccination as the world’s biggest drive while a sanitisation worker became the first Indian to receive the Covid-19 vaccine.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the programme aiming to vaccinate more than 1.3 billion people.
"We are launching the world's biggest vaccination drive and it shows the world our capability," said PM Modi addressing his nation.
Also, he paid tribute to the doctors, nurses and other front-line workers saying "who showed us the light" in "dark times".
The second highest number of Covid-19 cases in the world is reported from India.
