An AMBER weather alert has been issued by the Natural Hazards Early Warning Center for heavy showers, strong winds and rough seas.
Showers or thundershowers will occur in the sea areas extending from Batticaloa to Puttalam via Hambantota and Galle.
Naval and fishing communities are urged to be vigilant.
