Shuttlers representing McLarens Holdings captured major honours including the Grand Slam title at the 9th MBA Inter-Firm Team Doubles Badminton Championships 2019 which concluded at the Mercantile Badminton Association (MBA) courts in Colombo last week.
McLarens Holdings Limited (A) emerged Grand Slam champions and bagged the DSI Samson Group Challenge Trophy when they outplayed MAS Holdings (A) in a keenly contested final round of the tournament which saw a number of top names in the Mercantile sector competing for honours.
In the Cup Championship, McLarens Holdings Limited (B) defeated Dialog Axiata (A) to lift the Sumith Guruge Challenge Trophy. McLarens Holdings Limited (C) won the Plate title by overpowering Hayleys (A) and added the third title for their company, this time the E-WIS Challenge Trophy. Abans bagged the McLarens Challenge Trophy after winning the Bowl Championship following a win against Union Bank of Colombo while Commercial Bank of Ceylon (B) won the Novices championship and bagged the Mercantile Badminton Association Challenge Trophy following a win against McLarens Holdings Limited.
In the Group category Dialog Axiata (A) emerged Group champions while McLarens Holdings Limited (B) finished second.
Hayleys PLC (A) won the Plate title while Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC (A) and McLarens Holdings Limited (C) finished second and third respectively.
SriLankan Airlines and Mobitel won the Bowl and Novices Group titles respectively. The tournament was organized by the Mercantile Badminton Association.
