Maiden SLBC State Awards ceremony tomorrow

The maiden State Awards ceremony of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation will be held tomorrow February 13 at 5.00 p.m. to coincide with the World Broadcasting Day at the Nelum Pokuna Theatre, under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena.

Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Minister S.B. Navinna, Deputy Minister, Palitha Thevarapperuma, Mass Media and Parliamentary Reforms Minister, Gayantha Karunathilleke, Deputy Minister Karunaratna Paranavithana and two veterans in the broadcasting field, Berty Galahitiyawa and Newton Gunaratne will be present.

With the participation of State and private channels, awards and certificates will be presented for the 25 best programs in the three media which will include the Best News Presenter, Best Announcer, Best Speaker, Best Dramatist, Best Quiz Program, Best Scriptwriter, Best Program Producer, Best Broadcasting Channel, Best broadcasting Medium and the Best Research treatise etc.

Three veteran broadcasters, Vijaya Corea, S. Nathan and Prabha Ranatunga will be felicitated. A book titled ‘Guwan Viduli Sameekshana’ will also be launched to mark the occasion, which has been organised by the Internal Affairs, Wayamba Development and Cultural Affairs Department and State Broadcasting Advisory Board.
