Present boys beat old boys

The Present Boys beat the Old Boys at their annual Dharmaraja College cricket encounter played at Lake View last Saturday. The winners were presented the Bandula Gunaratne memorial trophy. Present Boys scored 285 for 8 in 50 overs and the Old Boys scored 271 runs in 47 overs.

Vidyartha squad

Vidyartha College who drew their first game last week against St. Anthony’s College, possess a talented side and a new coach will take over from this week. He is old Sylverstrain Julian Arnolda. The squad is made out of players like Isuru Prabodha skipper, Kasun Karunatilake, Medunaka Wijetillake, Chaturanga Dilsha, Kavishka Tennakoon, Dumindu Ediriweera, Ishan Sangeeth, Navoda Dilshika, Theja Bandara, Aditya Bandara, Dilan Sandeepa, Chatura Madusanka, Eranga Bandara, Kumuditha Perera, Anjula Kasum and Avishka Weerasuriya,

Antonian squad

St. Anthony’s College cricket team that did well in their first game against Vidyartha and should perform well this season with new coach Suneth Gunatilake. The squad is Theeksha Gunasinghe (Capt), Navodya Vijayakumar, Nimanka Jayatilake, Kalhara Senaratne, Thimashan Abeyakoon, Mohamed Kameel, Sasitha Hirudika, Lasitha Werelkagama, Tharindu Hewage, Dayan Pankaja, Sachin Prabath, Nipun Ashoka, Asitha Wanninayake, Gihan Ebert, Mohamed Rukshan, Gihan Achintha, Pramudith Panditharatne, Savin Weerasinghe, Dulshan Perera, Niluyksham Udayakumara, Chamika Samarasinghe and Gamya Samarasinghe.

Kalhara only one from Kandy

Sri Lanka Cricket has announced a 15 member squad for the upcoming U-19 Asia Cup in Bangladesh which starts on September 29. The only cricketer in the squad from Kandy is Kalhara Senaratne of St. Anthony’s College.

St. Sylvester’s College are in search of a suitable qualified rugby coach with experience. Anyone keen can apply to the principal, St. Sylvester’s College. Their former coach A. Rankothge has stepped down after a stint of four years.

Sri Rahula excel at U-16 rugby

Sri Rahula College gave a good display of rugby to win the All Island under-16 Division II rugby championship, held in Kurunegala. It was a great effort by the players, with limited facilities to win.
