Asanka Gurusinha and experts conduct coaching camp in Pallekele

A two-day cricket coaching camp conducted by former Sri Lanka batsman Asanka Gurusinha who is the Chief Cricket Operations Officer of Sri Lanka Cricket and initiated by Heshan de Mel, head of the Education Unit of Sri Lanka Cricket was held on August 28 and 29 at the Pallekelle International Cricket Stadium.

Sarath Ekanayake,the Chief Minister of Central Province graced the occasion at the opening ceremony where 75 Level One coaches from Kandy, Matale and Nuwara Eliya attended.

Dharshana Weerasinghe and Dilshan Fonseka of Sri lanka Cricket spoke on how to maintain

the fitness and nutrition of the players while Avishka Gunawardena, coach of the Sri Lanka A team spoke on batting. Sumithra Warnakulasuriya and Jehan Mubarak demonstrated the practicals in batting while Piyal Wijetunge, demonstrated spin bowling. Nuwan Seneviratne and Lanka de Silva took on the fielding aspect.

Gurusinha spoke on anti-doping while Ranjith Nanayakkara emphasised on the prevention of injuries and wicket keeping practicals were demonstrated by Lanka de Silva.

Theory with regard to fast bowling was demonstrated by Ravindra Pushpakumara, the head of Fast Bowling Cricket Academy.

The coaches who attended this Coaching Camp were presented with Certificates by Amila Pinnaduwa, the District Cricket Coach. Janaka Pathirana, the Secretary of the Central Province Cricket Association assisted in this programme.
