The Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) under the patronage of Mayor Ms. Rosy Senanayake, Deputy Mayor M.T.M. Iqbal, Municipal Commissioner Lalith Wickremaratne and Municipal ward members will inaugurate the CMC’s Vesak zone.
A sil campaign at the Municipality premises, Aloka Pooja at the Buddha Statue at Viharamahadevi Park and a disc of light for the Buddha Statue will be ceremonially launched. Other highlights of Vesak sponsored by the Municipality are, a Bakthi Geetha program, Vesak lantern competition, illumination of roads & buildings and other decorations.
A pindapatha for 150 samaneras and a sanghika dana for 150 members of the Maha Sangha have also been organised to mark Vesak Day.
