Four women drown in Galle

Four females have drowned while bathing in river Gin near Nugagala Mawatha in Hiniduma Police division, Galle, last evening.

“The group included a mother, her daughter and two friends of the daughter,” the Police Media division said.

Accordingly, the victims include 39-year-old Liyanagamage Shayamali Anoma(mother) and 14-year-old Mapalagama Liyanage Minurika Shayamali ( daughter), from Hiniduma West, 14-year-old Muthuhetti Gamage Ravindi Yasasmini from Malgalla, Tangalle and 14-year-old Madawala Withanage Kaveesha Anjali from Mapalagama. The tragedy had occurred around 2.30 pm yesterday afternoon and the bodies are at the Hiniduma hospital.

Hiniduma Police is conducting further investigations into the incident. (DA)
