Senior Lecturer, Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering , Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), Kahala Nimsiri Abhayasinghe, obtained his Doctor of Philosophy (in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Curtin University, Perth, Western Australia, for his thesis ‘Human Gait Modeling with Step Estimation and Phase Classification Utilizing a Single Thigh Mounted IMU for Vision Impaired Indoor Navigation’.
Abhayasinghe who was appointed the head of the Dept. of Electrical & Computer Engineering, SLIIT in August 2016 obtained his Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Moratuwa in 2004 and later his Master of Science in Electronic & Telecommunication Engineering of the same university in September 2007.
Abhayasinghe is an Old Boy of Kotaligoda Primary School, Menikdiwela and Dharmaraja College, Kandy.
