Sri Lanka athletes leave for China

The first batch of nine athletes took wing to China last night to join a training camp for three weeks before joining the Sri Lanka contingent in late September for the Asian Games 2023.

The other athletes and coaches will fly direct to the Games village later.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) took steps to present the second part of the Damro sponsorship to athletes and coaches who will be participating at the Asian Games.

All coaches were presented with Rs. 40,000 and deck shoes each that can be used during the Games while the athletes too were presented with deck shoes.

Four athletes were presented with Rs. 45,000 worth of gift vouches each to help them obtain nutritional needs.

This second part of the scholarship is valued at over Rs. 2 million by courtesy of Damro.

The athletes who took wing yesterday are Kalinga Kumarage, Aruna Darshana, Pabasara Niku, Rajitha Rajakaruna, Pasindu Kodikara, Dinuka Deshan, Nadeesha Ramanayake, Jayeshi Uththara, Sayuri Mendis.
