Worries for Sri Lanka ahead of Asia Cup

Sri Lanka will almost certainly be without Dushmantha Chameera for the entirety of the Asia Cup and appear unlikely to have Wanindu Hasaranga in their XI for the group stage either, cricinfo reported.

The report also said that Kusal Perera and Avishka Fernando who were likely to make the Asia Cup squad have tested positive for Covid-19 and are now under observation.

Sri Lanka under-19 beat West Indies U-19 by three wickets in a warm up match played at Maitland Crescent yesterday.

Royal in Under-15 semi final

Royal College advanced to the semi final of the Under 15 division three inter school cricket tournament at Veyangoda.

Special Needs sports meet

The Special Needs education sports meet 2023 of the Western Province will be held at the Sugathadasa International Stadium on August 29 at 2.00 pm with the patronage of Western Province Education Director AG Nimal Jayaweera and Chief Commissioner (Teacher Training), Education Director (Informal and Special Education) of the Education Ministry Dr KAD Punyadasa.

Zonal Education directors and a large number of guests are expected to be present.

 


Devapathiraja U-15 champions

Devapathiraja College Ratgama emerged champions when they beat Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya Ganthiriyagama by nine wickets in the final of the Under-15 inter-school cricket tournament played on Friday (25) at Royal College ground Colombo.

More than 150 teams participated in the first round at zonal and district level.

Devapathiraja beat Ratnawali Balika Vidyalaya and Mahinda Vidyalaya beat Sri Pagnanda Maha Vidyalaya Kumbukkana in the semi-finals.

Shashini Gimhani of Devapathiraja was adjudged player of the tournament.

Scores in the final:

Mahinda Maha Vidyalaya: 78/4 (Navoda Kavindya 14)

Devapathiraja: 81/1 (Shashini Gimhani 34 n.o., Nethangi Isuranjali 20 n.o.)
