Exclusive training opportunity for boxing officials

The Boxing Referees and Judges (R&J) Commission is planning to provide an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about the sport to enhance their skills and contribute to the success of the sport in Sri Lanka.

The R&J commission will be conducting two comprehensive courses to train Time Keepers/Gong Operators and Announcers for boxing meets in Sri Lanka.

Training courses will be held from September 2 to 6, 2023, in Akurana, Kandy.

Coinciding with the TB Jayah meet, this course is organized by the Referees and Judges Commission in partnership with the Boxing Association of Sri Lanka.

According to an official the primary goal of these courses is to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to execute their roles effectively during boxing meets.

He said successful candidates will be awarded a qualification certificate, enabling them to serve at National level and the courses will provide a comprehensive curriculum that covers theoretical aspects as well as practical training. Participants will have the unique opportunity to put their skills to the test during the TB Jayah meet which will run parallel to the training.

To apply for either the Time Keeper/Gong operator or Announcer course, applications must be submitted to the Secretary of the Referees & Judges Commission at [email protected] before August 30.

The application should include relevant details about applicant experience and qualification for the sport. An application fee of Rs 5000 will be charged from each applicant who is selected for the course.
