Football Sri Lanka (FSL) has scheduled to conduct an Extra Ordinary General Meeting on Monday (14) at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo -7 that will attract all 64 Leagues to discuss an upcoming election of office-bearers among other matters.
This meeting is called to discuss various issues that will set the foundation for the smooth running of FSL in the future.
They will nominate the candidates who will contest the top post when the elections are held on September 16.
The date for the election was reached following an agreement reached by all parties concerned over an issue with the Court of Appeal (COA) last week.
The COA decision will also enable the national team to participate in the World Cup qualifying matches scheduled to be played on October 12 and 19 against Yemen on a home and away basis.
The latest development has come about following Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe’s decision to temporarily suspend the Gazette notification he issued last December.
This opens the doors to conduct elections in a free and fair manner and resume the game that is the world’s most popular, in Sri Lanka.
