St. Joseph Vaz College and the College Old Boys Cricketers’ Association have organized a Vazians Super Sixes tournament to be held at the Albert F. Peiris ground in Wennappuwa on August 26 and 27 to celebrate the 90 anniversary of the school.
The tournament has attracted 24 leading school teams scattered all over the country and is sponsored by Jaya Farm and HB Sports Companies.
A side should consist of eight players with only six taking the field in each game. Wides and no-balls will not be re-bowled but two runs will be given for each extra and a free hit for a no-ball.
These details were revealed at a media briefing held on Thursday (10) at the Chamber of Commerce Auditorium, Colombo presided by Rev. Priyanjeeva Gunaratne, the principal of St. Joseph Vaz College. Also in attendance were the captains of the competing schools teams.
The champion team will be presented with cricket gear worth Rs. 150,000, Champions Trophy and certificates and runners-up cricket gear worth Rs. 100,000 and certificates. (TBR)
