The President’s Chief of Staff Sagala Ratnayaka has instructed officials of the relevant departments to activate the software project called ITMIS, where institutions that check the accounting affairs, including the Ministry of Finance can get information about the country’s financial situation.
It is stated in the instructions that the ITMIS software project, which was started for computerisation of all Government institutions including the President’s Office, should be restarted within two months.
Getting information while preparing the Budget will also be quick and easy with the ITMIS software project.
Along with this software, another software called Ramis was obtained in 2011 for income tax purposes and even the operators for it were completed, but this project, which was proposed to be introduced in 2013, was stopped in midway.
As a result, all accounting activities of all State institutions have been conducted using stationery as before.
Ratnayaka has instructed officials to start this work immediately and training of people for the purpose has also begun. The Government has planned to do public accounting under the ITMIS software by the end of next month.
