Import restrictions on 300 more items to be relaxed

Finance State Minister Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said import restrictions on another 300 items are ready to be relaxed by the first week of September. The State Minister said that in the last three months, the government has taken steps to remove the restrictions on more than 1,000 goods that had been imposed import restrictions.

He said this while speaking to the media after a ceremony held in Kegalle. He said that due to the Covid crisis and the economic crisis, import restrictions had to be imposed on about 1,000 goods, but as the economy is recovering, those import restrictions are being gradually removed.
