
President Ranil Wickremesinghe has met two foreign Heads of State and two Government dignitaries within 11 days. This was a unique opportunity for a President in the history of Sri Lanka.
The President within the past 11 days has met the Prime Minister of India, which has the fifth largest economy in the world, the President of France, which has the seventh largest economy in the world, the Foreign Minister of Japan, which has the third economy in the world and a leader of the Chinese Communist Party which has the second largest economy in the world.
President Wickremesinghe met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Indian President Droupadi Murmu in India on July 21. Two days later, Chinese Communist Party Politbureau member Yuan Jiajun and the group met the President in Sri Lanka.
Thereafter, President Wickremesinghe met French President Emmanuel Macron and held discussions on Friday, July 28 night.
This is the first time a French President visited this country. When President Wickremesinghe visited France in June, he invited President Macron to visit Sri Lanka and he visited Sri Lanka while travelling from Papua New Guinea to France and held bilateral talks with President Wickremesinghe.
