Wrap Co., a local cloud kitchen chain, is set to revolutionise the Sri Lankan street food scene with the introduction of Kathi Rolls, a popular snack enjoyed worldwide.
The origin of Kathi Rolls dates back less than a century, when the founder of Nizam’s, Raza Hassan Saheb, first conceived of this mouthwatering delicacy at a Mughlai food eatery near New Market in 1932.
This ingenious culinary creation evolved into what is now known as the Kathi Roll, wherein any filling wrapped in an Indian flatbread (roti) is called a Kathi roll. In the native Bengali language, “Kathi” roughly translates to “stick,” reminiscent of the original method used to prepare these rolls.
Today, Kathi rolls are not only a popular street food item across India but also a go-to choice for on-the-go consumers seeking a quick and hearty, flavourful meal or snack. Taking inspiration from this culinary phenomenon, Wrap Co. has embarked on a mission to bring the authentic Kathi Rolls experience to Sri Lanka. With five delivery and takeaway outlets already established across Colombo and more in the pipeline, Wrap Co is poised to captivate the hearts and taste buds of the island’s food enthusiasts.
Wrap Co. has thoughtfully curated an enticing selection of Kathi rolls, comprising up to eight varieties and customers can look forward to further expansions and exciting new varieties in the near future.
