In the Madampe Tambagalle area, a devastating motorbike accident resulted in the loss of two young lives. According to the police, the incident occurred when the motorbike, driven by a school student, and carrying another student passenger went off the road at high speed and collided with an electric pole according to a Dinamina news report.
Police has stated that both students were not wearing protective helmets and were clad in their school uniforms at the time of the accident.
Regrettably, the student who was driving the motorbike succumbed to his injuries while being transported to the hospital, and the other student passed away after being admitted to Halawata General Hospital for treatment.
Both victims were just 16 years old and hailed from Ruwanwella and Halawata areas. It is reported that Madampe police are conducting thorough investigations into the incident.
