Kingswood confront Antonians

Today at the Pallekelle rugby ground Kingswood College will scrum down against home town school St .Anthony’s College in the inter school league rugby fixture with kick off set for 4 pm.

The Antonians are the favourites in the match and Kingswood will have to lift their game to ensure they will not be outplayed.

Vidyartha host Zahira

The inter school league rugby match between Vidyartha College and Zahira College will take place today at the Bogambara Stadium.

Both teams are good at fast open rugby and the match could provide some exciting action.

Trinity swimmers to the fore

Swimmers from Trinity College dominated the National School Games Central Province Swimming Championship 2023 which took place at the Digana Sports Complex.

They were able to pocket 755 points. In the Under 12 category SC Goonetilleke produced a talented display while in the Under 14 category the emergence of Sethum Tennakoon turned heads.

In the under 16 category Paraná Anusara did a good job by pocketing the title while in the Under 18 S Jayawanth, Tharusha Herath and S. Thuwarkish, left an indelible mark in the competition.

In the Under 20 category, Senuja Samarasinghe and SJS Kumar captured the championship title.

Sri Sumangala promoted

Wariyapola Sri Sumangala College’s rugby team that did well in the lower division this season has been promoted to the A division for next year.

Sylvestrians win

St. Sylvester’s College were able to beat St. Benedict’s College by 24 points to 17 in their inter school league rugby match played in Colombo.

This time the Sylvestrians are coached by Suranga Kodithuwakku and the side is led by Avishka Shanuka.

Kandy CC win

Kandy CC beat Old Zahirians by six wickets in their Kandy District Cricket Association Super Tournament match played at Lake View.

Old Zaharians batting first were all out for 122 runs in 34.1 overs as Kavina Gamage took four wickets and Akila Wickremasinghe three.

Kandy CC in reply scored 125 for 4 in 26.2 overs with Rusiru de Silva making 64.
