Trinity Lion for seven cricketers

Seven top cricketers of Trinity College who excelled this season were awarded the Lion while four received Colours.

The awards were presented by the school principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundara. Trinity won the Under-19 Division One limited overs tournament and were joint champions in the under-19 two-day tournament. The Lion was awarded to Rahal Amarasinghe, Dinuka Tennakoon, Manjula Kularatne, Kusal Wijetunge, Dinusha Peiris, Theeraka Ranatunge and Tharana Wimaladharma.

The Colours were awarded to Vibhawith Ehalapola (re-awarded), Jayavi Liyanagama, Supun Waduge and Janith Warunakula.

Trinity athletes excel

Trinity College athletes led by M. Omar and coached by Nilco Bandra did well to pocket 414 points to take the first place in the Kandy Zonal Athletic Meet held at the Bogambara Stadium from July 10 to 13.

Athletics at Trinity College has always been significant.

Dharmaraja College with 176 points took the second place and St. Anthony’s College were third.

Bradby match

Trinity College and Royal College will meet in the 77th Bradby Shield first leg encounter to be played on July 22 (Saturday) at Pallekelle.

Ashan Ratwatte, who led the Trinitians in 1983 will be the chief guest.
