Rugby director of St. Anthony’s College Shanitha Fernando was hit with a bottle and injured after yesterday’s inter school Dialog League rugby match between Isipathana College and the Antonians at Longden Place in Colombo.
A spokesman of the Antonian team told the Sunday Observer that Fernando, who is a former CR and FC captain, was hit with a bottle flung by an enraged supporter of Isipathana after the match.
He was taken to an ambulance at the venue and his injury attended to by the team doctor of Isipathana and is reported to be out of danger.
The incident follows last week’s assault on the coach of St. Joseph’s College Nilfer Ibrahim after a match involving Kingswood College at Bogambara.
