32 teams in U-15 cricket second round

Thirty two teams advanced to the second round of the Under 15 division One inter school cricket tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and sponsored by Sri Lanka Cricket.

As many as 86 teams participated in the league in 13 groups in the first round. Nalanda College and St. Anthony’s College Katugastota were declared joint champion at the last season and both teams advanced to the second round as group champions this season.

The best two teams were selected from each group and the second round will be played on a knock-out basis.

Qualified teams: Mahanama College (A) Colombo, Nalanda College (A) Colombo, Royal College (A) Colombo, Isipathana College (A) Colombo, Sri Dharmaloka College Kelaniya, Tissa Central College Kalutara, Maris Stella College Negombo, St. Joseph Vaz College Wennappuwa, Prince of Wales College (A) Moratuwa, Devapathiraja College Ratgama, St. Servatius College Matara, Maliyadeva College (A) Kurunegala and St. Anthony’s College (A) Katugastota advanced to the second round as group champs.

St. Peter’s College (A) Colombo, Lumbini College (A) Colombo, Wesley College (A) Colombo, Ananda College (A) Colombo, Christ King College Ja Ela, St. Sebastian’s College (A) Moratuwa, Harischandra National School Negombo, Bandaranayake MMV Gampaha, Sri Devananda College Ambalangoda, Richmond College Galle, Mahinda College Galle, Royal College Polonnaruwa and St. Sylvester’s College Kandy advanced to the second round as runner-up teams in their groups in the first round.

DS Senanayake College (A) Colombo, St. Benedict’s College (A) Kotahena, De Mazenod College (A) Kandana, Sandalanka Central College, Dharmasoka College Ambalangoda and St. Joseph’s College (A) Colombo advanced to the second round as third placed teams in their groups in the first round. (YK)
