
Four acres given for ‘Miracle Dome’ by businessman:
The Criminal Investigation Department’s Illegal Assets Investigation Division has uncovered that Pastor Jerome Fernando conducts a business counselling service and a religious sermon online once a week for about 300 business persons from eight countries including Sri Lanka. Investigations have revealed that this programme is conducted online and business persons join it by crediting 210 US Dollars to a bank account in Sri Lanka.
Investigations have also revealed that Pastor Fernando earns more than Rs.1.5 million from a single such programme a week.
Officers of the Illegal Assets Investigation Division have also recorded a statement from the owner of the four acre land where the ‘Miracle Dome’ in Katunayake, where Jerome Fernando conducted his sermons.
The owner, who is a former Police officer turned garments businessman has told the CID that he donated the land to Fernando to construct a church.
This millionaire businessman, a former Police officer is involved in the apparel business.
The investigation also revealed that he has sold his factory located near the Katunayake Free Trade Zone to a foreigner.
It has been revealed that many such businessmen are among Pastor’s followers and among them are a leading vehicle seller.
It has been found that doctors, lawyers and high ranking officials working in various government agencies are among Pastor Fernando’s followers.
Investigations have also revealed that some government officials who are Pastor’s followers have even sold the vehicle permits they received from the government and had given all that money as support for the construction of this ‘Miracle Dome’ hall.
Police information revealed that the Illegal Assets Investigation Division is planning to record statements from the followers who have given such assistance in the future.
