Athletes to get Rs.100,000 each pocket money for “personal expenses” in Bangkok

Ceylon Biscuits Limited the makers of Ritzbury said it has come forward to sponsor the 13 athletes who will be participating in the 25th Asian Championship in Bangkok scheduled to be held from July 12 to 16.

The sponsorship program is said to be titled Maw Bimata Weerayek, in English “hero for the motherland”.

Saman Kumara, the Secretary of Sri Lanka Athletics said each athlete will be given Rs. 100,000 for personal expenses during the championship in Bangkok.

He said the deal was made possible with Sri Lanka Athletics (SLA) having a negotiation with the management of CBL who agreed to the request.

“Sri Lanka Athletics highly appreciates CBL Foods for coming forward with a remarkable sponsorship package of this nature. We thank the Management and look forward to working with them in the future too,” said Kumara.

The athletes are Kalinga Kumarage, Aruna Dharshana, Pasindu Kodikara, Pabasara Niku, Rajitha Rajakaruna, Sarangi Silva, Gayanthika Abeyratna, Dilhani Lekamge, Tharushi Karunaratna, Nadeesha Ramanayaka, Randi Cooray, Lakshika Mendis and Harshani Fernando.
