Governor of the Eastern Province Senthil Thondaman has taken steps to give teaching appointments to Higher National Diploma in English holders within 24 hours.
When the issue of non- teaching appointments to 48 Higher National Diploma in English holders was brought to the attention of the Governor of the Eastern Province immediate action was taken and they were given teaching appointments within 24 hours.
A ceremony to present letters of appointment for 48 teachers who have completed the Higher National Diploma in English holders within the Eastern province was held at the Governor’s Secretariat yesterday under the patronage of Governor Eastern Province Senthil Thondaman.
Even candidates who have completed their Higher National Diploma in English in 2017 have made requests to the authorities; they have not taken steps to sort out their issue. Hence, the issue was brought to the Governor’s attention on Friday and they have been given appointments on the executive order of the Governor.
The teachers who received appointments said that they have been waiting more than six years for these appointments and they are happy that they received their appointments.
One of the teachers said, “Even though we have completed the teacher training, we were neglected. We brought our issue to the attention of the relevant authorities including the past Governors and politicians. Even after winning the cases in the court, we were not given appointments. Therefore, the matter was brought to the notice of Governor Senthil Thondaman and he gave us the appointments within 24 hours.”
