China Air Resumes flights with Sri Lanka

The Chinese national airline, "Air China" marked its maiden flight after the COVID 19 pandemic with Sri Lanka last night (03 June) when it arrived to the Katunayake International airport yesterday.

About three years ago, this Chinese national airline had temporarily suspended flights to Sri Lanka due to the pandemic. An A-320 Airbus type aircraft was used for this maiden flight.

The flight C.C.A.-425 of this Air China arrived at Katunayake Airport at 08.20 last night from the international airport in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China. There were 142 passengers and 09 flight crew on board this flight.

After this, the planes of this Chinese national airline are scheduled to arrive at Katunayake Airport at 08.55 pm on Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week in a five hours and thirty minutes flight. It is scheduled to leave Katunayake airport on the same days at 10.15 pm.

Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhen Hong, Chinese National Airlines Asia Pacific Regional Manager Xue Jun and a large number of people came to Katunayake Airport to commemorate this occasion.
