Guidelines for officials attending COPA and COPE meetings

The President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake has planned to issue a set of guidelines on how Government officials should conduct themselves when participating in parliamentary committees such as the Committee on Public Accounts (COPA) and the Committee on Public Enterprise (COPE).

The President’s Secretary has taken this decision in response to complaints by the chairmen of parliamentary committees and considering the explanations given by the officials in response to questions in this regard.

The President’s Secretary has received complaints from the COPA and COPE that many officials are not fully prepared to face these committees.
