A special meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers is scheduled to take place today (28 th June) to address the pressing issue of domestic debt restructuring.
The proposal for domestic debt restructuring will be presented during the meeting, where ministers will thoroughly examine its details and implications. The outcome of this session will most likely
determine the government's course of action regarding the restructuring process.
In parallel, Speaker of Parliament Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena has issued a Gazette Extraordinary, summoning the parliament to convene on 01 st July (Saturday). This special parliamentary session has been called upon at the request of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. Debt restructuring plan is to be discussed at this session.
