Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said in Parliament yesterday (22) that about 4,000 employees working on a temporary basis at the Electricity Board will be confirmed in the future.
He said that due to the human resources census being conducted in the Electricity Board these days, the confirmation of that group has been postponed.But he said that he hopes to confirm those who have been working continuously in the Electricity Board in the next few months.
The recruitment of that group was temporarily stopped. This group works very dedicatedly in the Electricity Board. They will be confirmed in the future. Promotion procedures that have been temporarily stopped will also be carried out in the future. The Minister said that after the restructuring of the Electricity Board, all the employees who are currently working will be given space in the new companies. He said that they will be given a salary not higher than the current salary.
He pointed out that the facilities currently enjoyed under the Electricity Board will be provided in the same manner and no new recruitments will be made in future. He said that the same people who are currently working will be assigned to work in these companies.
