Kingswood host Isipathana

Over here in Kandy today a spectacular rugby encounter is expected when Kingswood College host Isipathana College in their inter school group match at the Bogambara Stadium.

With both sides evenly balanced it will be a battle for Kingwood’s forwards and Isipathana’s backs which could bring about interesting rugby.

Isipathan College is led by Naveen Kanishka and coached by Kandy product Saliya Kumara while Kingswood College is led by Imanka Iishara and coached by Malith Hettiarachchi.

Kandy’s Tikiri new head of CR Kandy product Tikiri Ellepola one time Trinity College cricket and rugby captain has come in as the new president of club rugby team CR & FC.

He is expected to carry forward the good work of his predecessors.

KDCA sets the ball rolling

The Kandy District Cricket Association (KDCA) who have done their best to keep the game alive commenced their super tournament and the teams in action are Kandy Cricket Club, Old Rajans Sports Club, Old Trinitians Sports Club, Kandy Youth Cricket Club and Old Zahirians Sports Club.

Side wickets

Kandy District Cricket Association has also made arrangements to present side cement wickets to Udadumbara Secondary School, Teldeniya National School, Kadugannawa National School, Sri Sumangala College, Dheerananda Maha Vidyalaya and DS Senanayake College.

Antonians and Vidyartha start well

Two Kandy schools St. Anthony’s College and Vidyartha College gave a good display of rugby to win their opening games against St. Josephs’ College and Science College respectively.

Mahamaya girls win

In the much looked forward to cricket match between Mahamaya Girls College and St. Anthony’s Girls College, the former triumphed at Pallekele.

St. Anthony’s Girls College bating first made 167 for 7 in 30 overs and in reply Mahamaya Girls College scored 168 for 6 in 29.4 overs to pull the game in their favour.
