
Finance State Minister Dr. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that the delegation from the International Monetary Fund who arrived in the country recently, is optimistic that Sri Lanka will achieve an economic growth rate of 1.5% in the year 2024.
The Minister pointed out that the IMF expects that Sri Lanka will be able to reduce the economic growth rate of -7.8% in 2022 to -3% in 2023.
Dr. Siyambalapitiya also said that the proposal of the IMF is for the entire people of the country to strengthen the country’s economy. The minister pointed out that the IMF is ready to provide good support for that. The Minister said that all the people including politicians and journalists should understand this situation. He emphasised that he is not a judge, police officer or businessman.
