Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that after the completion of the current Human Resources audit, the Ministry has planned to confirm NVQ training officers and the promotion of personnel who are eligible for promotion.
This was revealed at the annual conference of Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) Technological Engineers and Supervisors Union meeting yesterday.
At the meeting its was discussed facts about the need for restructuring of the Electricity Board and the plan to implement the restructuring process. The present serving and retired officers will receive the benefits of the Employees’ Provident Funds and pensions after the restructuring.
“These benefits will continue in the same manner after the restructuring. It is implemented by a specialised agency for that purpose,” the Minister said.
Attention was drawn on the future restructuring of electricity generation, transmission and distribution into separate units was discussed. Comments were also made about converting into separate companies and assigning officers to these companies and the program of setting up power plants to produce electricity at minimum prices.
