
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera has obtained the approval of the Council of Ministers to reduce the price of a 50 kg bundle of urea fertilizer to 9000 rupees from 15th June onwards.
The Council of Ministers has recommended that the decision to reduce the price of urea fertilizer should be decided by the price committee appointed for that purpose.
Accordingly, the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera instructed the officials to meet immediately today and decide on reducing the price of fertilizers.
According to that decision, the price of urea fertilizer will be reduced to 9000 rupees from tomorrow. Currently, the price of a bundle of urea fertilizer in the market is 10,000 rupees.
Meanwhile, the fertilizer contained in the Urea Fertilizer ship which has arrived at the port of Colombo is now being unloaded after facing delays due to heavy rain last night (12 June).
