600 teams in fray at Under-14 football

Over one thousand players from 600 teams will take part in the inter-school under-14 football championship 2023 that will kick off on June 13 organized by the Sri Lanka Schools Football Association (SSFA) with CBL Samaposha sponsoring the tournament for the 12th consecutive year.

The popularity of this sport is displayed by the participation of 12,000 students who will be showcasing the overwhelming response in the sport.

It will have 470 boys’ teams and 130 girls’ teams in action at 32 centres across all 25 districts.

After the completion of the district level competitions, 32 boys teams and 24 girls teams will make their way to the finals in Colombo.

The tournament will kick-off on June 13 and be initially played in Dambulla before progressing to the final in Colombo. Special awards will be presented to the best player (boys) best player (girls) and best goal-keeper.
