
The Prime Minister’s Media Secretary Lalith Rohana Liyanage has requested the Inspector General of Police C. D. Wickramaratne to conduct an inquiry against a YouTube channel for spreading false news damaging the reputation of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
The Media Secretary in his letter to the IGP has pointed out that an extremely inaccurate video has been released on the social media through the relevant YouTube channel targeting the Prime Minister who returned to the country after spending three very busy and restless days on an official visit to a foreign country with a very small team of officers.
The Secretary has mentioned that the video clip which has been released on social media while abusing the freedom of the media is detrimental to the reputation of the Prime Minister, and urges police to take legal action against offenders.
