Lady Ridgeway Hospital’s Deputy Director Dr. Santhush Senapathi, yesterday said that various problems have arisen for the hospital administration due to the fact that the medical wards of the Hospital are filled with children infected with fever.
He said that there are six such wards in the hospital, and since 90 percent of the beds in each ward are filled with children infected with fever, almost 500 children are currently being treated in the respective wards.
He said that the situation two to three months ago was different, and at that time, so many children infected with fever were not receiving treatment in the hospital. He also said that children with dengue, influenza, Covid and other fever symptoms are receiving residential treatment in these wards.
He also stated that due to the fact that the physical wards are filled with fever-infected children, there is a risk that sometimes even the monitoring of a child with a disease such as dengue can be overlooked.
He said that around 1,500 children come for treatment from the outpatient department of the hospital every day and that they should follow the health advice of wearing face masks and not
staying in crowded places, similar to the time Covid prevailed. He also said that the spread of viral fever can be reduced by following health advice and not sending children to school if they have fever.
