The Police have focused on conducting an investigation under money laundering against Pastor Jerome Fernando, who made a statement that insulted the Buddha to his followers. An investigation
will be carried out regarding the properties and assets owned by Pastor Jerome Fernando and to find out how those assets were earned by him.
Special attention will also be paid to the building erected near the Katunayake Bandaranaike International Airport, which is used by Pastor Jerome Fernando to deliver sermons to his followers. A high-ranking Police officer stated that a large number of complaints are currently received by the Criminal Investigation Department as well as the Police headquarters regarding Pastor Jerome Fernando.
Jerome Fernando left the country with his wife and children soon after the CID started investigations against him. Police Media Spokesman SSP Nihal Talduwa said.There is a possibility to arrest him when he returns to Sri Lanka since a travel ban has been imposed against him,” he added.
He stated this at a press conference held yesterday to brief the investigations going on regarding Pastor Jerome Fernando.
