It is reported that the Fishing vessel LU PENG YUAN YU 028 was seen capsized in the Indian Ocean at 19.00 GMT on 16th May [03.00am on 17th May (Chinese time)]
The fishing vessel had a Crew of 39 fishermen, including 17 Chinese, 17 Indonesians and 5 Filipino. There has been no news regarding the crew of the ship thus far. President Chinese Xi Jinping has orderedsearch and rescue operations for the crew of the ship.
China has also requested the assistance of Australia and Sri Lanka to help with the SAR efforts.
