Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha has stated that the Education Ministry is planning to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology into the school curriculum from 2024 onwards.
The two the subjects will be added to the curriculum of students from Grade 6 to 13. As AI is becoming an integral part of dailylife globally, this will help Sri Lankan students keep up with the International community.
Minister Premajayantha stated that the decision was taken in order to keep upgrade the standards of Sri Lankas education in line with the global standards.
Currently, steps are been taken to introduce these two subjects to the curriculum of select few schools as a pilot program within the next couple of months.
