
Jaffna District MP and People’s Liberation Organisation of Tamil Eelam (PLOTE) leader Dharmalingam Siddharthan yesterday said the discussions held between President Ranil Wickremesinghe and the Tamil political parties in the North were very fruitful and the Tamil politicians believe that the problems of the Tamil people will be resolved in the coming days.
A discussion started in Colombo between the leaders of seven Tamil political parties and the President on Thursday and the discussions are planned to be held for three days. MP Siddharthan said that during the discussion on the first day, the issue of Tamil political prisoners, the land issue in the north and the new Anti Terrorism Bill were discussed at length with the President.
Apart from that, MP Siddharthan also mentioned that he discussed with the President the problems faced by the people of the North and East regarding places of religious worship. MP Siddharthan further said that he would discuss matters related to the distribution of power to the Northern and Eastern Provinces and other political issues in the subsequent discussions.
The MP said that the Tamil political leaders believe that the Tamil people will get relief from these discussions and a solution to the political issues.
The MP also said that they believed that the decisions from the subsequent discussions would be very decisive to solve the Tamil problems.
